Friday 20th March was International Day of Happiness. At Mix n Fix we celebrated by asking the question ‘What makes you happy?’ and sharing our answers online as part of Global Happy Hour with +Social Good.
Answers ranged from ‘holidays’ and ‘family and friends’, to ‘helping people’ and ‘sharing’. In fact, a common theme emerged – making other people happy, doing good, is what makes our community here at Hub KL happy.
And that is exactly what Mix n Fix is all about.
This Mix n Fix, in conjunction with ICYL (International Conference for Youth Leaders), saw 130 people gather to celebrate young people working to empower other young people.
Katrina from Yayasan Chow Kit shared inspiring stories of her work with young drug addicts. Representatives from VIP Project The Butterfly Effect, which works to empower at-risk youth through art, performed a hit-song from Les Miserables. In addition we enjoyed performances the Malaysia Ukulele Group. And to cap it all off photographer Kenny Loh, author of Born in Malaysia, explained what Malaysia means to him through sharing stories of the ‘normal’ people who form the subjects of his work.
We’ll be back for the next Mix n Fix on the 16th April. Join us for an Eco-themed evening of networking, thought-provoking talks, food and fun!
